Game Review: Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
I recently checked out the game based on the movie of the same name – Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Wanna know if it’s any good? Keep reading to find out if the game was any good or if it was just another game in the long line of disappointing movie games.
The game starts out after the movie with Sid and Diego telling the new baby Peaches a bedtime story about what happened in the movie. Nice way to cover the main points of the movie without simply reenacting every scene. Depending on the level, you get to play as different characters including: Sid, Manny, Diego, Scratte, Scrat, and Buck. Controls are pretty basic and are the same regardless of which character you’re playing with.
As you play through the single player levels, you come across trading posts where you can purchase upgrades and unlockables. Some of these unlockables are challenges. For the challenges you basically play through the levels again to beat your score or time (depending on the level). There are also multiplayer mini game challenges, available before you go through the single player.
So is it worth a buy? For the avid game player, there isn’t much to this game. If you’re hunting for trophies, it’s worth a one-time play through (all but 13 can be achieved in one run). Other than that, you’re probably better off just watching the movie. I give the game a rent it if you want trophies or if you’re curious. Otherwise, just go ahead and skip this game.
